I'm gonna keep this simple and sweet. Handsome Android is one of the best DJ collab's coming outta N.Y. S. as we speak. They're based in Albany and have been mixing ravenously across upstate clubs, local parties, and concert events as well. Keep your ears to the street about music festivals and dub shows though because I know they're making moves. You can find some pretty unique stuff on the internet these days. A lot of it is garbage, some of it is far from the real deal, few things compare to the creativity and absurdity of the designs for sale at Big Cartels': Toy Art Gallery. The name sounds direct and simple enough but this store has gathered up some of the craziest toys you've ever seen. They're really much more akin to abstract statues or enemy creatures taken directly from a bizarre cartoon or video game. Whatever the case, these toys are really cool just to look. Many almost resemble 3D graffiti characters. the toys are all made in limited quantity and often only one-per-piece. The price tag on them expresses the time an thought put into each character and the ticket tends to be high. Affordable for you or not, check em out and let us know what you think. I'll be hunting for other shops within the genre (if u can call absurd toys a genre?) and posting on them in the future. This lil fella' right here is called "Buff Moster" DestroyerCon. edition, and he's only partly distracted by the idea of consuming your soul...

Tony Thompson: Paint Prodigy

For an urban artist 'jack-of-all-trades,' look no further. Tony Thompson of Utica, NY does it all. Give him a couple cans of spray paint, or a few markers, and he will create some truly dope artwork, on..anything. Really, ANYTHING. One of his specialties are his hand-painted hats. The blank hats go from a simplistic, blank canvas to something creative and eye-catching. Wanna hook up something fresh for the ladies this weekend? Thompson also does awesome custom work, just in case you need something one-of-a-kind. His expertise doesn't end at painting walls and hats. Thompson has experience designing t-shirts for JohnnyRags, a local clothing company. With graphics for men and women, you're guaranteed to find something that you love. Extreme Uni-What?

When it comes to extreme sports, several things come to mind. Skateboarding, snowboarding, BMX, and so on. But, there's been a growing interest in the underground sport of extreme unicycling. Yes, unicycling. And, if you think that involves an occasional bunny-hop, you're dead wrong. These cyclists pull off mind-bending feats with truly extreme tricks. So, next time you go for a ride on your bicycle, hop a curb and feel like a champion, keep these guys in mind.

As one of the creative minds behind Thrash Nasty, a design team based in Central New York, Kawa is no stranger to producing truly interesting graphics. Specializing in t-shirts, Kawa's designs focus on intricate geometric patterns, as well as gutsy details that will guarantee a double take. Small beating packs a punch

Small Beating; creatively doing damage in the underground . This is a small skate deck and tee brand to keep an eye on. They have released a total of only 7 decks this season on Big Cartel but every one of them is absolutely fresh. The graphics range from extremely silly to a much more aggressive mainstream feel. Check out the decks. There's a good chance I'll be posting updates and more details about these guys in the near future.

Brutal baby breakdancing

I realize the video is a lil bit twisted but embrace the hilarity... A break dancer accidentally destroys this child mid-performance. This is the price paid for too many poorly made and overdone dance movies. Luckily the girl was okay. Lets hope nobody starts break dancing at a school prom someday. Fight or Flight will be her only options.

Dance Party Massacre. The name says it all. The tees are trendy yet dark and edgy. The clothing has a smooth, vibe and simultaneously screams the theme of a horror movie. DPM is an Urban Punk line out of Boston. Founded in 2007 by some of Boston's most notorious party animals. They tour Massachusetts organizing radical, raving parties and pushing the clothing line. The Brand has gained considerable notoriety recently and their cult-like presence is spreading quickly. They design and produce primarily tees for both guys and girls but are moving into hoodies as you read this. DPM has been featured in several internet posts and can be purchased via Karmaloop's "Karma Swap" store. Check these guys out post some opinions.

Upstate Graffiti Profile: OMeK

This is a photo of work done in Upstate NY by a graffiti artist known as OMeK. His work is not as well known or as common as several other upstate taggers. I really liked this piece however and wanted to post the pic. It is unknown whether he is imitating a french artist by the same name or if he and the french artist OmeK are one in the same. Either way enjoy the art. I will be profiling other artists in future posts.

ImpeK Clothing is an urban clothing line based in Upstate NY. This brand turns heads wherever its worn. Good or Bad, there is No neutral for these guys. The Gear is crazy, twisted, and sometimes a lil bit confusing but look long enough and you'll get the message: -Obnoxiously Subtle-. Love it or hate it, for ImpeK its all about being creative and outta-the-box. This Brand is a breath of fresh air. It has been three months since the line release in Las Vegas. Although the Brand is still very young they show potential for growth and an almost twisted sense of creativity. The style of their shirts is a blend of hip-hop, skate and Indie. As of this post they produce and design tee's and hoodies for both men and women and ladies tanks. Rumor has it that V-necks, beanies, and fitted caps are in the works; we'll have to wait and see. The roots of ImpeK go back a year and a half ago. The Brand however, has only been a legal entity since summer 09'. All the original gear was custom dyed in the basement and then printed locally. These days the blank gear is shipped out to California where its is labeled, printed, and finished for retail. Despite it's humble roots ImpeK is expanding and may just be someone to watch out for.
